Using Win2k, Roxio 6, drag-to-disk, Sony 16x DVD-R:
I just had my dvd burner replaced. The person
who did it (whom I trust) informs me that the new
burner is faster. However, it takes nearly 1 hour
to write data that was previously written in about
1/2 hour. Also, the "Minutes Remaining" are
as would be expected if the burner were running
at the faster rate (off by a factor of two).

Any suggestions? Also, do you know another forum
in which I should post this query?

Thanks for your help.
Mike.

Win2K installs new drives in PIO mode by default sometimes. Go to device
manager, expand the IDE controller and view the properties on the channel
that the burner is on. Set to UDMA if available and reboot.

To add to that, you have an old version of Roxio, which may need updated

for the newer burners. Go to Roxio support and search for the PX Engine
update.
Another question would be to what media are you using? It may be causing
the problem, especially if it is older media.

That was it. 55 minutes was reduced to 11 minutes.
Thanks again,
Mike.
