So I've been having a really annoying problem with my internet connection. I start up my computer and for any given random period of time, my internet connection works perfectly. Then without warning, I am completely unable to access anything that requires an active connection to the internet, such as a web browser. However, applications that are maintaining a passive connection to the internet, such as an instant messenger, still function perfectly. This has persisted through a complete format of my hard drive, as well as a move to a new location. at my last residence, it happened when i was connected through a wire t a router using comcast cable. Now it is happening when I use a wireless USB network adapter to connect to a Verizon DSL wireless modem. Any help figuring out this problem would be greatly appreciated

Will
