| Ok, I'll tell you up front I am only 15 so I am not that smart on fixing computers. Anyways, here's my problem: I improperly shut down my computer, by holding the power button until it shut off. Then, when I turned it back on, it went to that black screen that says "Improper Shut Down" and that gives the choices to go to safe mode and all of that stuff. So, I skipped that screen and just went ahead to loading the computer.... (Later on I did try going to safe mode and it did not fix this problem). So, then my computer went to the black screen that says WindowsXP and has the bar below that has a blue rectangle that slides across inside the bar, representing that the computer is loading. Then, instead of the computer going to the screen with all of the computer users on it, it restarts itself and does this whole pattern again and again and again. So, now I ask: Is there a simple way of fixing this? |

First of all try going back into safe mode.... then try a Scan disc.
Click Start/My Computer/right click hard drive icon open hard drive 'Properties', then in there click Tools second tab on left/click Check now in the top pane that say's Error Checking....
... click the top box only thats say's 'Automaticvally fix file system errors' click Start and then reboot... this action will fix any start up files - hopefully, sit back and wait it'll take a minute or two windows should start if successful.
Clicking the next box that say's 'Check bad segments' will scan the entire hard drive for bad patches... this can take a considerable time depending on your hard drive capacity and is not relevant here.
Start up files can be corrupted by not letting windows shut down proper.... 'Saving your settings', a scan disc check will normally cure this problem.
The first thing I would try myself, hope it helps.

Check with all the USB devices removed... in case they'er faulty.
Could be a corrupted MBR (Master Boot Record, in which case I think it would be easier to try a repair install or a complete new installation.... but first you'll need all the mobo drivers etc. I could be wrong mind, there may well be an easier way out.
Have a look here, clicking the link will open it in a new window http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8356
