Looking at a netra on ebay. It appears to be missing the system config
card. Is there a way to operate the machine without that card?
When I was buying Netra's for work purposes, sun send the cards in the
machines, already configured.
IIRC, that card stores the machines MAC, and NVRAM settings (hostid
to?). Just looking around, those cards are frigging expensive, about
$50-$90 USD.
The seller must be selling them seperately to milk more cash out of the
salvage.
Anyway, is there a way to make the machine run without it? Pros/cons.
Thanks,

As an aside, what are the chances that putting the system disk from an
Ultra 10 in the X1, and doing a boot reconfig would be successful?

Low. The hardware is different so the boot disk links will probably
differ.
I'd expect to require a boot from installation media, then redo the
links on the drive while booted from it. There's several pages on
google about running 'devfsadm' while booted from CD to do this.

LOM event: +4d+2h6m32s host FATAL FAULT: SCC removed
FATAL ERROR: no System Configuration Card detected.
Please insert a suitable card and reset or power-cycle the system
You only need the card for powering up. When it's up you can stick any
old card in it to keep the switch open. I'm not suggesting you borrow a
card from work. :-)

The Sun retail price appears to be $27 plus whatever S&H is.
I found this at:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/Netra_T1_AC200/components.html#Card/Reader
Clicking on the BUY button took me to:
http://store.sun.com/CMTemplate/CEServlet?process=SunStore&cmdViewProduct_CP&boxid=%23370-4285&referrer=ssh_buy
So if people are asking $50 to $90, then you'd be better off cutting out the
middle man.
