Can someone tell my if it is possible to have Vista Ultimate edition to
recordnize my 2940 adaptec controller, so that I can use the patches for
Vista, placed on these 2 SCSI drives ? I've allready tried the drivers from
the adaprec site for Windows 2000 and Windows Vista, but didn't help me out.
Can someone tell me if it is possible to have Vista handle with the
controller?

I have a 2940 UW. I have read several places that the 2940 will not work with Vista. My only consolation is I probably won't be needing it when I am finally forced to "upgrade" to Vista.

Adaptec did add the 2940U2W driver recently, so 2940* may be there too.

Adaptec has drivers for 2940 and up (AIC78xx/AIC78U2) for Vista/32-bit
on their Website, the current version was released 15 Feb. I wouldn't
be surprised if they have no plans to support it on Vista/64 on older
hardware, this *is* Adaptec we're talking about after all!
Are those the ones you've tested?, it's a bit unclear since you're
refering to Windows 2000 in the same sentence (the Vista drivers
apparently work in XP, since they recommend upgrading to these if you
plan to "upgrade" your XP to Vista, but the older 2k/XP drivers may
well not support Vista).
If you tried those drivers you may want to consider contacting Adaptec
(not that I expect them to help with a card this old) or if you want
help here you need to at least post details on what hardware (there's
several different 2940-type cards, including OEM versions) and
software you actually have tried and what went wrong (exact error
messages), perhaps someone has seen it before. But you haven't given
much details yet.
