I just recently bought this notebook from a friend of mine, and
re-formmated the hard drive but now I'm in desperate
need of the audio and video drivers. The Recovery disk I got with it
would not work.
I've been looking for the past two day to try and find these drivers
but without any luck, thanks in advance

Look up the detailed specs for this model on the Gateway web site. What you
need to find out are the chipsets for the motherboard (probably Intel),
graphics, Ethernet, audio and possibly wireless. If the Gateway web site does
not have these drivers, the chipset manufacturers' web sites do. ALWAYS
install the motherboard chipset drivers first, immediately after the operating
system itself is installed... Ben Myers

Hi - I too aquired a blank MX3311b recently - I've reinstalled windows XP pro, everything has setup ok, i've found nearly all of the missing drivers via my desktop but I still can't get rid of these uninstalled devices......
- Video Controller (VGA compatible)
- Copropcessor
I've searched for days now, and it's killing me!!!
Can ANYBODY help!!!???
Here's the notebook spec............
PROCESSOR
AMD Sempron 3200+
1.6GHz, 512 L" cache
Hypertransport Technology@ upto 1600MHz
MEMORY
512MB DDR2
HD
40GB, 4200RPM
VIDEO
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 (and yes, I've downloaded all the possible drivers from NVIDIA - none work - keeps showing a message saying....
"the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
Question: is it possible that the video card is not what it says on the box????
Cheers |

I bought my wife a Gateway MX331b about 4 months ago,and have only heard of two other people using them... Congratulations I no longer feel so alone!
There is,as you said, very little support for this model; I can log onto the Gateway site, but cannot log onto the Gateway users Suppoert Website, as my Serial number is not recognised.
I used the Built in Program to make a recovery disk (DVD), this has EVERYTHING that Gateway (or their suppliers) put onto the hard drive. If you would like a copy of the DVD please contact me through the Forum private message service and I'll run off another copy for you (both).
When you're up and running could you let me know if your battery loses charge when not in use.... My wifes Notebook only gets used at week ends, and we keep finding the battery has only around 20% charge left the following Saturday, even though it was switched off. A couple of times she has left the Wireless thingy switched on when she powered down and the battery was absolutely flat by the next week. _________________ Gateway MX3311b (W340UA)

Hi Brian,
A copy of the disk you have made would be fantastic! But as I'm a new user to this site - how do I send you a personal message??!! Also, I have noticed that the battery level has been draining very quickly of late - I stuggle to get an hours use out of it, so much for portability! |

How to send a Private Message..
Private Mail.
use Private Mail without leaving their email address for scammers to find.
When logged-in - Drop to the very bottom of the screen below the latest posting.
Find Memberlist and click it...
SORT memberlist by date joined - Descending. (You're now on page 1)
skip to page 5 - I'm (obviously) BRIAN HILL easy to spot 3/4 way down page
To the left is an icon of 2 'heads' pm (private message) click either of the heads...
takes you to a screen just like the 'new or continue, Threads screen.
Type your message.... And send.. _________________ Gateway MX3311b (W340UA)
