I just want to have some light shed on my confusion. I was chatting with a
friend using yahoo messenger and we were both using webcams. Suddenly, my
computer hanged. But i could still very well see my friends cam. Then
suddenly blank windows came popping on my screen with amcap on the right hand
corner of the windows and a name amcap is also mysteriously activated on my
task bar. which also say "(137) amcap" . There were about 20 windows that
pop out but no images. Then my pc hanged. Whats the number? Im sure i dont
have it installed on my pc even before. I dont know how it came to be there
and was activated. (???!!!!).
Please HELP!!!
thanks! |

It is about the second program listed |

Thanks....But could it be triggered by a virus that it be auto-installed on
my PC by a hijacker or something? Or could it be that my chat friend was
video-capturing my webcam without telling me (probably messed up with the
setting and all)?. Excuse my questions, im really freaking out...

I don't see how it could be triggered by a virus. I have 'played' with |
AMCAP and had no problems with it (although I later deleted it as I had
no use for it). Even if your 'friend' was capturing the video, I can't
see how it it would affect your system (although I may question his/hers
motives for doing so!). The only thing I can think of is that when you
installed the camera software it was installed with it.
If you are running XP, you could go to 'Add/Remove programs' and see if
is listed as an installed app and if so remove it. To my knowledge Amcap
has no spyware/malware include with it. Beyond what I have said, I am
unable to help you...maybe someone else can shed some more light on it
for you. |
