I bought my brother a Solo last Christmas, and for some reason the DVD-RW
drive will not read DVDs. I tried normal commercial movies, and burned
data DVDs - nothing.
I know for a fact it can read DVDs, because he wanted to do that at some
point and I made sure the PC could do it. I also looked at the drive and
it says DVD-RW on it.
It Will however read CDs. |

Is the DVD software installed? If so, what is it?

Software to read and decode the complicated DVD movie format is required. But
if the computer can't read data DVDs, it sounds like maybe the DVD-RW is faulty.
No special software is required to read data DVDs.... Ben Myers
