I want to work out if theres a way to mix music with my voice when on webcam. I know its easy if you do it externally, ie: plug
mike and music into an external mixer but I wanted to do it at software level if possible. I currently have my microphone plugged
into the sound card but I'd like to play music as well straight from my PC, down the line to the person I'm speaking to. I know I
could play it through my speakers and into the microphone but thats amateur. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help.

Someone more knowledgeable will eventually answer, but until then,
here's my idea:

Some sound editors (GoldWave & Audacity, in my direct experience) will
let you record from the system's or sound card's audio mixer. If your
webcam lets you get its sound from the same thing, set that up & try
playing the music and talking into into the mike. Mute the other
inputs, if you like.

The main disadvantage is that system sounds will be captured as well
(error beeps, you've got mail, etc).
