Is it worth enabling CnC with an Athlon64 X2 system ?

My concern is the CPU throttling and its effect on system performance.

What do people here think ? Is it a waste of time ?

I don't use it. I didn't buy a 2.2ghz cpu so it can run at 1ghz. My cpu is
cool and quiet enough running at fuill speed all the time.

Works great for me, been running a X2 with CnQ enabled for about 16
months now.

Since the CPU uses less wattage the PSU pulls less power so it runs
cooler and produces less fan noise. CnQ can also help keep the CPU fan
speed at lower RPMs (less fan noise) in PC cases that have crappy air
flow, the AMD64 fan is thermally controlled by the air temp that passes
though it.

Overtime CnQ can save you a few bucks on your elec bill too, especially
if you have a few systems running that don't need all the power of the
CPU all the time.

As far as performance goes I can't tell the difference with CnQ on or
off, and neither can benchmarks.

The clock throttling is instantaneous, you won't ever notice it going up
or down unless you had a frequency meter.
