Hello all
Got the subject m/b, was always running with a max temperature of the CPU at
70 degrees, system was running fine for the past half year.
No o/c, supply voltages from the psu are staying fine.
Since the past week I did have to set the max at 80 degrees, anything lower
will switch of the computer.
The normal running temperature is around 50 degrees, smart fan switched on.
When the system goes to standby, the temperature is slowly rising to 77
degrees, with all the fans still running at the same speed.
CPU fan is running at about 1100 rpm.
Made a small chimney from the inside of side panel to just above the fan on
the CPU, did help a little but still rising to 77 degrees.

Maybe I must take of the heatsink from the CPU and put on a fresh smear of
silicone paste.
Cleaning of the little mat from the heatsink which feels like chewing gum.
Anyone got a better idea?

I left the side panel open at all times and one front fan blowing in, 2 rear
fan blowing out. default massive heatsink that came with the system 3.0 ghz
dual core 1 GB DDR-2 553MHZ of ram

Did not adjust anything.

I suggest that you
- clean the heat-sink of dust with one of those air can first. Found mine
got a bit dirty and partially clogged with dust and lint after 6 months. if
that help then clean after every few months depending on your environment
- make sure the front bottom air intake slot of the case has plenty of
clearance for air circulation

That was the first thing I did do is toe clean all the fans.
They were all clean enough, did not make any difference.
A few weeks ago our temperature was for close to a week 40 degrees, no
problem that time.
One exhaust fan on the back blowing out, one on the PSU blowing out.
One on the CPU heatsink blowing down.
CPU is a Celeron 2.8, only 256 Mb memory.
Two fans running on my FX5700 Ultra 128 Mb.
The temperature is only rising by 20 odd degrees when my screen saver comes
on.
This does only happen in the past few weeks

Not sure how to solve your problem, but I had a quick question. Is it
true that you have been able to modify your CPU fan speeds via SpeedFan
on the P4M800Pro (v2.0)?

Was just curious to know how you got this to work, as I am having
trouble.

P4M800Pro-m (v2.0), Intel Core 2 e6300, 1.5ghz DDR1, Vista Premium 32,
microATX tower meant to be HTPC.

Running at 40-degrees C stable before any overclocking (just built it
recently).

Not sure how to solve your problem, but I had a quick question. Is it
true that you have been able to modify your CPU fan speeds via SpeedFan
on the P4M800Pro (v2.0)?

Was just curious to know how you got this to work, as I am having
trouble.

In my Cmos set-up is a page called Hardware Monitor, click on this heading
The bottom reads Shutdown Temperature, my setting is there 75 degrees C.
The one above is Smart Fan Temp. of Full speed, change this to enable.
My CPU fan is now running between 1000 to 1200 RPM

Bert-

I have the same MOBO with a Pentium D 805. Idle 40 and never gets over
60 even in 4 hour stress test. Had to change out the CPU cooler though
to get it to run this cool

1. Defiantly clean the heat sink on the CPU of dust and what not.
2. There is a difference CPU coolers the stock Intel one is not very
good
3. The thermal paste makes a difference use Artic Silver 5 or Antec
Silver 5. Also be sure to use a Thermal Material Remover and Surface
Purifier (Artic Sliver makes some good stuff. You say you just scraped
it off, not good.
4. What OS are you using? Did you change OS? XP runs 5-6 C cooler
than WIN2000

Did you just recently install Speedfan? If so turn off its fan speen
control and let the BIOS do it instead (Hardware Monitor, they enable
SMART FAN Control)

Do you have a smart fan, 4-wire?
