|
|
I am running a 3-CPU E3000 on Solaris 10, it currently has 3 x 250MHz
CPUs. Can I just remove the CPUs and replace them with 400MHz CPUs or
do I need a new CPU board and clock board?
Also, I have a CPU board from an E3500 with corrupted PROMs, can I
download a working PROM image and reflash them? If so, where can I get
the images I need?
Many thanks!

What Clock Board and CPU/Memory boards do you have now?
Different Clock Boards run at different speeds.
Also certain CPU/Memory boards only support up to 2 MB of cache.
The 400 MHz CPUs come in 4 MB and 8 MB cache sizes so if you have a very old
CPU/Memory board you may need a newer model.

Sometimes you can get lucky and reflash the PROM.
Otherwise the board may need to be replaced.
You will want patch 103346-30 which will bring all the boards up to .30 on
the REV.
No problem,
