January 22, 2007 (IDG News Service) -- Mainframe computer vendor
Platform Solutions Inc. (PSI) has countersued IBM, saying the giant
company should not have accused it of infringing on patents when it
created computers that allow customers to run IBM's System z operating
system and software on mainframes from other vendors.

Intel's money is in this one by way of an investment in PSI.

PSI's z/os target platform is Itanium. Itanium is nary, Nary,
NARY a mainframe, except p'raps to folks who don't know what BE
a nasty, nasty ol' mainy-frame.

Moreover, OS emulation has always been a big performance headache,
and is likely to remain so.

So the whole thang shapes up as "Much Ado About Nothing, Nada,
And Zilch" in many ways.
