X-No-Archive: Yes
I have a moderate amount of what were reputed to be premium quality
blanks, made in USA and Japan, and some Mexico. Some are from early
2000s and rated as low as "8x".
These are:
phthalocyanine
Mitsui 74 min Made in USA 8x
Ricoh Platinum 74 min Made in USA 8x
Kodak CD-R Ultimate 80 Made in USA 12x
azo
Verbatim DataLifePlus Azo (deep blue) do they still make these?
cyanine:
Taiyo Yuden
I prefer quality over speed and I really don't mind burning them at 8x.
Are these nearly decade old blanks still stable to burn on? If I have
to throw them out, what are the premium quality blanks these days? I
would rather pay $1/blank over $9.99 for 50 of questionable quality
stuff.
Using the Nero DVD-CD speed quality checker, I'm getting 98 ish with
all the media, except the TY cyanine yields a 100 score on my BTC
recorder. |
