|
|
Hi there,
Does anybody know how to access the webcam controls via software?
I know that you can access the special format dialog window sending the
WM_CAP_DLG_VIDEOFORMAT message, but I would like to change the camera
exposure time or its brightness directly, accessing the camera
properties via software (C++ or VB for example).
Any suggestion will be appreciate.
Have a great day.

Hi Chris,

you could just use MSN or Skype. Set up the camera and then change the
settings via that. Not ideal, but might be what you want to do?
Chris
No, my intention is to modify the brightness (the webcam gain) on the |
run, depending on the light on one limited captured area only. I'm
planning to write a software to use the webcam as an optical spectrum
analyzer. Usually an optical spectrum analyzer rotate a grating
element to reflect the light components sequentially on a small
sensitive area detector. My idea is to capture the decomposed light
reflected by the grating mirror using the webcam. I don't want to
develope a professional instrument, anyways it should be a good deal
for my hobby.
Have a great day.

A question for both of you is which brand(s) of webcam(s) do you have? Do
you have a Creative? Logitech? Micro? Neither one of you go into that in
your posts.
Cheers :D
