Hi,
I have a gateway (model listed above) thats powers on, but nothing on
the display. I get an HDD light and cd light constantly on. Nothing
else works. No display on screen. NOTHING. Can anyone help or am I
doomed (and lost of 20 bucks)??? |

Do you have an external monitor to try with it? Sometimes the LCD graphics has
failed, but the external works OK.
You might also troubleshoot by removing both hard drive and CD-ROM drive.
Possibly one of them is causing the system to fail to run.

By the way, could you tell me what the standard hard drive is on that
model???????. Think someone might have changed it.

The HDD and CD removal did not work! Don't know what to do now?

Try connecting up an external monitor. Removal of an HDD or CD can sometimes
be tricky with notebooks. I'm not familiar with the 2300, so I can't advise
anything except to refer to any user's guide you may have, in print or
downloaded from the gw2k web site.
Given the age of the Solo 2300 and the BIOS limitations of computers from back
then, a notebook drive up to 8.4GB in capacity will work fine. Maybe a drive up
to 32GB will work if the BIOS is more modern... Ben Myers
