I just bought a new computer that only connects devices via USB cables
- I have a scanner (Visioneer 3300 model) that I want to keep rather
than go out and replace it just because it doesn't have the USB type
connections. . It connects via the old parallel port type of cable.
Can anyone tell me what the correct type of USB to scanner adaptor
cable I should buy so I can hook it up to my usb port on my new
computer? Thanks for the info

If you have a free PCI slot you may be able to add a parallel port that way

for a reasonable price. Don't know that USB to Parallel Port adapters exist
but they probably do. Trouble is they'll probably be expensive enough you'd
be just as well off to sell the one you have and buy a new scanner. Good
Luck.

Honestly, it's time for a new scanner. You may or may not be able to
get a USB "adapter" to work, but any parallel port scanner is really,
really old at this point, and on top of that it's going to be slow (even
USB 1 was about 10x faster than what you would get through a parallel
port). Someone else suggested getting a PCI parallel port card.
However, even that may not work, because PCI parallel port cards do not
use the "classical" parallel port I/O ports, and thus may not be
recognized by or work with the scanner software.
