I have a Gateway FPD2185W TFT LCD Monitor and today I noticed a yellow
vertical line going all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom of
the screen about five inches from the right side. Is this fixable or does
it mean that the monitor is going bad?

Best to check it with another monitor or computer. As it could be either
one. If it is the computer, most likely it is the video card.

Happy ending. Costco couldn't just replace the monitor because they no
longer carried the package deal that this monitor was a part of, so I called
Gateway and they are sending me a new monitor in 3 to 5 business days. I
just have to return the original monitor in their postage paid box. Nice
touch.

My new replacement monitor arrived yesterday and is working fine. I just
have to say I am totally impressed with Gateway customer service. When I
first called about the possibility of returning just the monitor from a
"package deal" I got someone who actually spoke English, he was polite, knew
what he was doing and it only took a few minutes on the phone. I am talking
about one yellow line that appeared in my monitor Sunday, January 7. I
called Monday, January 8, and my new monitor arrived Thursday morning,
January 11. I will definitely buy Gateway again. (Also, this computer &
monitor came with a TWO year warranty.)

Thank you Annie for the update. And it is also great to hear about
things going well too. We don't hear that too often anymore in this day
and age. <grin>

I have the same problem with the same monitor. An additional anomaly is that blue text appears purple. These problems exist on two different video cards (Radeon 9800 & Radeon 9550).

I have contacted Gateway and I am waiting for a replacement monitor. I will report back after it arrives.

Im having the same problem. My monitor isnt replaceable because its
attached to a laptop.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P35 S6292, which has ATI Mobility Radeon
9700/9600 onboard graphics.

Neither Toshiba or ATI has updated graphics drivers for this chipset
(or rather the ones Ive found do no good whatsoever, and they are very
old).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The new monitor arrived yesterday. All is well. The yellow line has disappeared and blue text is blue.
