Be patient, I'm new at this. I got this killer piece of equipment for
Christmas but I have tried four times to install the thing! Followed
directions to a T but I get a "Msgsrv32 error". Choice of "Ignore or
Cancel". Ignore does nothing. Cancel works but then when I restart
the computer I'm dead in the water. I get my wallpaper, no icons etc.
Cont/Alt/Delete "not responding". I have had to manually shut off my
computer and use GoBack - to a time previous to installing, to get my
computer to work again. Also, it says the printer is not connected
(Yes it is!). Any ideas about what I can try?

First go back to b4 you attempted the first install.
Disconnect the printer from the computer.
Install the software, DO NOT connect the printer until the installation requests you to do so.
If that does not solve the problem try the Epson web sit at http://www.epson.com .

Yes. The prevailing rule-of-thumb for installing USB devices these days is to
install the software first, THEN connect the device when the software asks.
Connecting the device, then installing the software often leads to confusion in
the software... Ben Myers

Thanks for the reply. Your suggestion is the exact way the
instructions were written and I did do it that way, four times. I will
check out the website you recommended. I did send an email to the Epson
Help people but with new years etc probably will be a few days before I
hear back. I appreciate your input. I kind of stumble my way through
this computer stuff, but it's a good way for me to learn, by problem
solving. Best to you for the New Year.

Try UNinstalling everything for the printer first. Often the residue left
behind from a failed install will keep a subsequent software install from going
properly. In extreme cases, most often with HP products, I've had to edit the
Windows registry, removing as many entries as possible which refer to the device
in question. But try an uninstall.
BTW, which version of Windows (XP presumed) and which model of computer?

Ben,
Tried. No success. I have a Gateway 2000 Model G6-233 Multimedia LP
mini-tower, using Windows 98SE. The label on back says "ship date
ll/18/97". Yea, I know it's old but it seems to work well, especially
since I'm just learning and want to know what I'm doing before I invest
in a newer one and what kind to get etc. Thanks for your input.

Now we're getting somewhere. The USB on an older Gateway G6 just barely works,
and it is USB 1.1. I'll bet that the Epson requires USB 2.0. Or possibly the
Epson software does not work with Windows 98? You can always add a USB 2.0 PCI
card, but it would be worth just about as much as your aged computer... Ben
