I know someone will know. I have a Fuji S7000 camera. I have a Lexar
1GB CF card.
I have XP Pro with SP-1. If I plug the camera in a 1.1 USB it works and
sees the card
but it says I have a high speed device plugged in a low speed hub.
The Lexar Media (Fsmile screen comes up like it should and gives
selections of what you can do with the photos on the card thats in the
camera. The usb icon on my PC comes
up when I plug the camera in the 2.0 USB but nothing else happens. The
Lexar
screen doesn't come up. Any ideas of what I need to make it work? A
patch or setting?

Thanks, the camera performs perfectly when connected to the 1.1's
It just gives me a message when I plug it in saying I have connected
a high speed device to a low speed hub. I want to get it working with
2.0
The morons who created USB standards are a bunch of twits. They made two
USB2 standards, one is full speed and one is high speed. They should
have called high speed USB3 to make it clearly different because
manufacturers are still making cheaper full speed USB2 products and many
people are duped into thinking that because it's USB2, it's faster than
the original USB when it's actually the same speed.
Agreed that it's a mish mash and confusing to all but the most astute as
to port and device speeds.

But I seriously doubt that it was a particular group of morons, nor that
they are twittier than other morons.

Who are "they"? Is there really a standards setting group for this, and
what is M$ doing about it?

The crappy cards I returned were rated at 480Mbps they were just bad.
My new one
that worked flawlessly with zero effort is also rated at 480Mbps

What the laptops need are firewire as that's the grand-daddy of speed

right now. Most desktops have usb2.0 and firewire 400, but the Mac
speeds along at firewire 800, that's what we really need. No desktop or

What the laptops need are firewire as that's the grand-daddy of speed

right now. Most desktops have usb2.0 and firewire 400, but the Mac
speeds along at firewire 800, that's what we really need. No desktop or
notebook have firewire 800. Another punch for the mac. I'll still stay
with the gateway laptop as it's portable and convenient. Just plug in
what you need and it's there, no hassles. A card reader shows up like
drive, and xp offers moving pix to my pictures folder.
The key is deleting what you've already transfered to the machine(s), so
you're not bundled down with duplicates.......all of the transfer
utilities usually offer to delete, however the grapevine says to
reformat the card/microdrive where thepictures were stored by the
camera. Confusing, yes, but leave it to computers in general for that.\
I used to be a systems analyst, and it's still confusing to me. I know
the facts about the systems. That's where you become the expert and
wind up teaching someone else about it. No charge, and it keeps me busy
, but who wants to be busy when you come home from work. I like to
stretch out in front of the tv :)

Harry

ps....in your case it may be a driver or a reader that isn't compatible.
Here we go again:)
