I have recently seen a (to me) new type of Verbatim CD-R in cakebox.
It does not contain the words Datalife, Datalife Plus of Super-Azo,
is made in Japan, not India or China. The reorder number is 43351 vs.
43343 for the Datalife Plus Made in India.
I only want to know which is best for long-time storage :-)

Hi,

I'd buy some and check the manufacturer/dye type with your
CD utilities, that's the only way to know for sure.

If they have azo dyes and come from the Mitsubishi chemical company they
should be good for serious use.

If it's a CDR made in Japan, it can only be Taiyo Yuden media, which is
easily the best quality you can buy.

Verbatim re-sells media made by a variety of factories all over the world.
Sometimes it is made with Mitsubishi specs and dyes, sometimes not. In this
case, not. The "AZO" designation usually refers to the use of Mitsubishi
dyes, but AZO-type dye is not exclusive to Mitsubishi or Verbatim. "Datalife
Plus" doesn't really mean anything at all.
