Anyone using one of these? It says it can be used with Skype, YahooIM, AIM,
etc... just wondering if that means it can be used by any program that
requires a VFW device. As many of you know, I use HomeWatcher on my site -
and I'd love to be able to feed it 1.3mp video to grab stills from, rather
than the interlaced 640x480 that my current video capture card is capable
of.

Any opinions on the M$ cam are appreciated.

Toe.

I tried the Microsoft LifeCam VX6000 and found it to be a cheap piece of
crap, although it takes decent still images and does fairly well in low
light. I didn't like the Windows Live messenger program. Video quality is
not at all as good as they lead you to believe in the packaging, and it
didn't work well for me under Yahoo messenger. You get alot more menu
options with Yahoo and a Logitech webcam than with the microsoft, and for me
the video was better with the logitech webcam. The Microsoft lifecam does
take nice video shots offline to file, but online with an instant messenger,
I thought it sucked. I've got a very fast cable connection and so does the
person on the other end of my IMs. I expected better from Microsoft. My
next webcam will be the Logitech Quickcam Ultra most likely. But my other
grip about BOTH Microsoft and Logitech is their webcam software is SO
INCREDIBLY BLOATED AND SLOW, it makes me want to PUKE!

tnx for the comments... I've seen enough negative reviews and firsthand
comments now that I think I'll wait on this one. :-)
