System Info: MS-7060 with 512MB Ram, 80G Western Digital HD, running
WINXP sp2.

Problem: Moved the machine the other day (to paint the room it was
in), and now having set it up in another room it won't boot. Seems as
though it can't recognize either the HD or the CD-ROM even though both
are listed and ID'ed as Primary and Secondary Masters in initial boot
messages. I eventually get a message that no 80pin cable is installed,
even tho it is. Just on the off chance that both CD and HD failed
simultanoeusly, I moved the HD to another machine and connected it as
Primary Slave. That machine recognized the drive and I was able to
back up all the files (whew!!!).

Tried re-installing Windows, but get a blue screen message that Setup
doesn't find a HD. Surprise, surprise.

Did I mention that the boot attempt process is taking and extemely long
time? At least 10 minutes from power up to "Disk Boot failure - Insert
System Disk" message...

Would flashing the BIOS doi me any good? Only prob there is that I
don't have a floppy in this box...

Any ideas?

Did you check the cable connections at the motherboard? Maybe moving
it knocked something loose.

If not joy there, then you might try clearing the CMOS, rather than
flashing the BIOS.

Yep. Tried all that. No luck. I've come to the realization that the
board is just dead, for all intents and purposes. The really
frustrating part is that it is only about 5 months old, and its
predecessor went in much the same way -- moved the box from one room to
another, and this time it wouldn't even power up. Tried 2 power
supplies before I realized it was the board, then had to return the
first replacement board because the on-board sound was dead. Yes, all
three have been MSI, and even tho I've used their boards for years with
no problems, I think I'll avoid them for the time being.
