Does anyone here know if the Solo 1450 ever sported an AMD processor? I
just bought a systemboard that looks very similar to a 1400/1450 board, but
does support the AMD processor. I'm just wondering if this came from a 1450
or even 1400. I don't have a chip to test it yet.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Gateway laptops of that time did not use AMD processors at all. It wasn't
until they aquired Emachines that they started using AMD again. This time
both in laptops and desktops.

Thanks. Exactly what I thought. I researched the board and it seems it
came from an HP ZE1100. The case is basically the same as the Solo
1400...except the logo. the guy when I told him this, tried to tell me they
were interchangeable and I should just flash the BIOS with Solo file. Yeah,
I'm sure that will work when it starts to boot and looks for that Intel
processor and finds the AMD one. The heatsink from 1400/1450 will not even
fit it.
Bottom line though, he will refund my money, but he feels he is going the
extra mile because he still thinks he is right.
I'm just tired of talking to him.
Anyway, ranting over. Thanks for confirmation. That is what I had told him
in earlier email, but again, I was wrong according to him.
