|
|
| I currently have two computers an old Windows ME(which I don't use, but it functions fine) and my primary computer, which I do use, Windows XP. The problem is, I don't have a CD burner in my XP as I do in my ME, and what I want to do but don't know is how to take the CD burner from my ME and put it in my XP. I have also heard rumors of this being dangerous and if the motherboard is touched then that could severely mess up the computer. Please, any information on how to take a CD burner from one computer and put it in another will be greatly appriciated. Thanks. |

unplug both computers. unscrew or remove the burner from the old
computer - including unplugging the cables (power and signal).
move to the new computer. reverse the steps (plug in signal and power
to burner, install and rescrew into case). power up the new computer.
use. enjoy.

All good advice, but I would add that he should also check the jumpers
so that they are set the same way as the old unit was.
