I built a system for my brother-in-law about a year ago. A few months ago,
his system was infected by some kind of a virus, and he followed a friend's
advice to reformat his hard drive and reinstall all of his software. The OS
installed again without a problem ( Win98 ), but he has "misplaced" the
manual and the CD for the motherboard, which has drivers for the onboad LAN
and sound.

The only thing I know about the motherboard is that it's a PC Chips
motherboard, but I can't figure out what the model is. I took it to the
local computer store, and if the model number is on the MB, neither of us
can see it. The CPU is an Intel Celeron 1.8 GHz. The MB accepts either one
of two memory types, has 4 PCI slots, and 1 4x AGP slot.

On the printer port, there is a sticker that has what looks to be some kind
of a serial number - D385E14703707 - and directly under that is the string
EA=000795196EBE.

I've checked the PC Chips Web site, and found nothing to help me identify
the MB. I've also left email and voice mail for their technician, and have
not heard back from them yet.

Can anyone please help me identify which PC Chips MB this is?

TIA,
tms

Also look at the BIOS ID string during bootup and go to

PCChips boards don't usually have any obvious identifing marks on them
as they are often resold under other names. There is often a model
number in the BIOS or BIOS string.

They're also fairly easy to identify with layout and chipset:
