Hi.
As I am new to this web site please forgive me if I am double posting.
My brother has the following computer system hardware:
Motherboard - MSI K7N2G
CPU - Athlon XP 2500
RAM - Corsair Twin 512-3200LL PC3200 2X256MB DDR 2-3-3 with Silver heat
sink spreader
Video Card - ATI Radeon 9700 Pro AGP with 128 MB memory
CD Drive - Asus 52X UltraDMA CD-ROM
CD-RW - Plextor 48X/24/48X CDRW EIDE Drive
Floppy 1.44MB
Power Supply - Antec 350 Watt Smartpower
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition
The problem:
Start Up:
After plugging the power cord in and turing on the switch at the power
supply and before pressing the start switch on the fron of the computer
pannel the computer case fans rotate a few revolutions stop for about a
second or two then rotate a few more revolutions etc. This continues
for about 10 to 20 seconds and then the fans stop rotating. At this
point the computer can be booted directly into Windows.
Shut down:
Windows shuts down normally except that the computer case fans rotate a
few revolutions stop for about a second or two then rotate a few more
revolutions etc and again the process continues for about 10 to 20
seconds until the fans stop rotating altogether.
I have attempted disconnecting the 20 pin connector from the
motherboard jumpering the green wire to the black wire hooking up the
fans to the power supply and the work perfectly and shut down normally
when the jumper is removed.
Any help would be appreaciated.
Regards,
Brent
