Is there a way to configure what loads first as far as all the items
you see (icons) getting loaded onto the taskbar at bootup?
Reason I ask is that I have a new APC Back-Ups unit that works through
the USB port for systems monitoring. On bootup, if the APC software
loads before the USB drivers, then the APC Icon has a slash through it
telling me that it does not have a connection to the system. The
monitoring software dos not have an option to Re-Task the system to
see if the USB port has been activated and the only way to get it
right is to reboot and hope this time that the USB drivers load before
the monitoring software.
BTW, this happens half the time. Half of the time the USB drivers
will get loaded before the APC monitoring software and all is well.
Thanks in advance…
Ed

Try this. You can assign arbitrary boot delays (make APC wait sufficiently
long).

Thanks, that works. I had taken it out of the "Startup" folder and
was starting it myself each time I reboot but that relied on my memory
which has its own problems.
I was under the impression that the USB ports became active after the
BIOS contents were gone through ay boot up which if I am not mistaken,
is the first thing that happens. But it would appear that I am wrong.
This sort of problem would seem to be bad for external USB boot
devices like external hard drives holding backup images of the HD
which need to be booted from to do the restore if the HD goes bad and
a new empty one is put in and ready to receive the backup image from
the USB backup image drive.
