Hi.

I have a tape backup system (Overland autoloader) that we've been using
for a while (>2yrs) and we need to move it to another server. The only
thing is that we need to use a different SCSI card. (PCI-X to a PCIe
type card). Would changing the card vendor render our previous tape
backups unreadable? We are currently using Veritas Backup for Windows
Servers. If anyone has any experience with this type of situation, I'd
like to hear from you.

Thank You,
Irnie

Your previous backups will be just fine. The SCSI host adapter is just a
transparant transport for SCSI commands and data, it has no knowledge of the
tape layout.

The only caveat you may need to address is if your current backups use large
blocksizes (>64K or >128K). You new adapter may require a registry change to
support large data transfers. Here's the Veritas support bulletins
describing the possible issue:

Should not be a problem.

Mike.
