Are there any security issues in regard to using Windows Media Player
10? I'd like to use it to see some of the videos linked on news
pages.

I see that installing it makes it the default player for CDs and DVDs.
Is that good or bad. Will installing it prevent me in the future from
installing a better 'media player' that is not from MS? (I kind of
distrust MS. They have a habit of trying to make one's machine their
own.)

I'm using Win XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 8400.
