Some people use dual motherboards without the use of opterons? Just normal
amd's.

Is that possible or is it just a typo?

It's very possible with K7 CPU's. You can mod the bridges to turn an XP
into an Athlon MP cpu. I haven't heard of a mod for the K8's, but then I
haven't tried to look for one either.
