|
|
I am trying to get an Agere modem to access the internet.
The owner of this setup has pulse phone service and is reluctand to change
to tone.. (Costs more)
The settings in Phone and modem properties have been changed to pulse.
The system picks up and I can hear a dial tone,,It dials with the tone
sounds and when finished the dial tone is still there, with other words,It
is not dialing in.
I phoned the store where the computer was purchased and they suggest that
the modem is faulty. They also tell me that when the modem dials in pulse
you should hear the clicks from pulse dialing. I tried all this on my own
two computers but only hear tone dial sounds eventhough I changed the
settings to pulse. Has anyone any suggestions since I do not believe all
these tested modems are faulty?...Eskay |

How did you do this "changed to pulse" of the settings?
Any place where it wants the dial command, instead of "ATDT" it
should have "ATDP". It may show that as only "DT" and "DP", and
automatically prepend the "AT".
If that doesn't make it work, when you list a number, put a "P"
in front of it. Hence, to dial 555-1212, give it "P5551212".
