A friend of mine is trying to back up his small, but valuable collection of
SACD's. He is not having any luck.

Is it possible to do so or is there some type of copy protection for the
format. Also, it begs the question since I'm on this topic: is it possible
to back up one's collection of DVD Audio discs. I have not adopted either
format since I think they are overpriced and a rip off from an already
usurous music industry that's more greedy than... well, you get my point.

Thanks.

Ive had no first hand experience with SACD but i believe it is a completely different format to everything else not just high resolution audio data on a DVD so a DVD-ROM drive wont be able to read it.

As for DVD-A, you can copy the files from the AUDIO_TS folder onto your hard drive. I only have one DVD-A disc and it isnt copy protected so i can do it like that.
