|
|
Hello! I've got a Panasonic CF-27FCCKFEM Toughbook, which I have
installed XP on. I'm satisfied with its performance, but it bugs me
that I have an Unknown device in device manager! I haven't a clue what
it is, as everything seems to be working! All I have to identify it is
the Device Instance ID, which is ACPI\MAT0011\2&DABA3FF&0. Is that
enough information to figure out what driver I need to look for? |

For lots of money, my tech support lady would delete the driver and see what
xp finds on a reboot. It usually costs me $50.

ACPI stands for advanced confuguration and power interface. It means the OS
is able to use the power management and plug 'n play abilities of the laptop
itself. Every device has to support ACPI, otherwise you'll get these
warnings.
It might be an old BIOS not supporting these functions completely. See if
you have the most recent BIOS available, and if you don't - think twice
before flashing, because if it ain't broke don't fix it.

or just disable ACPI in your BIOS so windows doesn't use it.

Hi, There are several ways to "translate" the ID into "this is what it is" but most likely it's the built-in modem. The CF-27's came standard with a modem, you can go to the "toughbook" site within Panasonic's web portal and get the driver for it there. XP doesn't load everything there's just too many devices out there _________________ br/daver |

| Trying to solve a similar issue with a Dell 8100, with a problem with "ACPI\MGMT180\2&DABA3FF&0", I discovered that the file "ChiconyDellkb.inf" seems to be necessary. Unfortunately, I cannot find this file anywhere except in "Metolious.zip" at http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=125745. It seems to be for the "Dell USB HUB 'Chicony' Keyboard". Maybe there is a similar driver for the Panasonic keyboard somewhere. |
