Dear All,

I am using P-IV 3.0GHz HT processor on a 915 chipset mainboard with
Windows XP2. I have an interal 56K modem. I wanted to use my pc as an
answering machine. But modem is not detecting incoming calls. Modem
drivers and TAPI are installed. I tried checking the modem using direct
to COM port. But still it is not showing RING . Can anybody Help ?

Make sure that your modem is not configured for quiet mode (Q1).

Send the following commands:

AT Q0 V1 E1 L3 M2

The following command configures the modem to answer on the n-th ring:

AT S0=n (0 = zero, not oh)
