I got a new Dell computer a few months ago, which meant my Gateway
G6-450 was relegated to 2nd string status. Out of curiosity, I wanted to
see if I could upgrade the operating system from Windows 98 First Edition to
Millennium (ME). I wiped the hard drive clean and installed ME. The
installation went smooth, and the computer seems to work just fine. I've
only noticed one glitch, if that's the appropriate word. A thorough Scan
Disk takes at least twice as long to finish now, even though I have less
programs running in the background now than I did when I was using the
G6-450 as my main computer. Any ideas why? The Gateway has a Pentium II
450Mhz processor with 384MB of RAM. |

Turn off the system restore and try again - that will probably fix the
issue.
