I have a g6 350 pentium 11 running win 98 256 ram 10 gig hard. What steps
should I take to install win. xp.Thanks

Upgrade the processor (you can still get the 1.4 GHz upgrades from PowerLeap
for about $110) and upgrade the RAM (another 256 MBytes will help - probably
about $60 or so).
Then make sure your other hardware is compatible (printer, scanner, etc.)
and that you're prepared to upgrade things like antivirus, firewall, etc.,
that may not be XP-compatible.
Then back up your data before you install XP - don't upgrade the existing
installation - format the drive and start fresh.

and download the "Upgrade Advisor" at the bottom of the page and run
it.
That will tell you of any all issues that you will have to deal with
to upgrade your specific system to XP.
