My computer has started acting up for some reason. It doesnt matter
what I am doing offline, the modem engages and I get a message of:

Network Connections

You (or a program) have requested information from
www.featured-results.com. What connection do you wnat to use?

I close it and it immediately comes back on again and again and again,
etc. How do I find out what program is requesting this or how do I
cancel this annoyance?

Sounds like you have an adware trojan. You need to run something like
AdAware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
and/or Spybot
http://security.kolla.de/

Sounds like something nasty. The registered address of the domain is
Belize (island off east coast of Central America) and nameservers for that
domain are NS1 and NS2.BROWSERAID.COM (sounds like they raided your
browser or PC).

Download either Ad-Aware or SpyBot, on another computer if you have to. I
prefer Spybot ever so slightly. Both of them remove malware, spyware, browser
hijack programs, drive-by installs, and all the other rot that can come in from
the slimeballs who also inhabit the internet. You may have to start up your
computer in safe mode to allow either program to run. Allow either program to
delete ALL of the entries that they find. If running one or both of these
programs does not take care of the problem, your next step is to download
HijackThis, a VERY technically oriented program. HiJackThis looks at your
internet settings differently and allows you to get rid of some other stuff
which neither Ad-Aware nor SpyBot can handle.

Next, download and install all the latest Microsoft critical fixes, patches,
service packs EXCEPT (In My Humble Opinion) .NET, which is yet another mess
waiting to be exploited by hackers.

Finally, use Opera or Mozilla as your browser and use some mail program like
Eudora rather than Outlook or Outlook Express. You will have a much safer
computing environment if you minimize your use of Microsoft's chronically
insecure products for internet access... Ben Myers
