When I purchased Gateway Performance 500 PC in 1999 it came with 104 key
keyboard and Win98 OS. Since then I have changed my OS to MS Windows XP Home
Edition, and now the extra keys, such as Volume, Internet, E-mail, Sleep,
and others do not work. Do I have to upgrade my Keyboard, or is there
another way to enable the extra keys?

I have keyboard pn7001603 and there were no windows xp drivers on gateways
website, I tried the window 2000 drivers and they work with xp.
the only difference I noticed is the sleep button light doesn't light but
the sleep button works and the volume indicator on the screen is clear, not
green.
