I need a portable hard drive that will work in a gateway Profile 1. The
existing one is 6.4 Hitachi DK-239A-65 ATA-4. The connector has a socket,
rather than 44 pins.

I need to find one that will work that has at least a 10 Gig capacity. The
current one is 9.5mm and don't know if a 12 will fit or not.

Hope you can help

The socket comes off the back of the drive and can be reused on a new drive.
You can buy a 20G drive for $100 or less - Fujitsu, Toshiba, Seagate and
Hitachi all make slimiline notebook type hard drives that should work fine.

Do you know of anyone who has done this on a Profile 1. I mean specifically
for a Profile One. When you check IBM/Hitachi site that lists all the
laptop types, it shows that the oem drive for the Profile 1 is ATA-4. The
only other ATA-4 types I can find are less than 10 gig.
I do appreciate your help
