I have a Gateway ESS 450SE, P-III, with 64B RAM, Win98 ver2.6(?). that used
NAV 5.0 The owner either installed a new version on top of 5.0 or removed it
manually and left components and then tried to reinstall or whatever those
folks do when the do what they do to computers......

Now whenever the application is about 1/3 the way through installation, this
error shows up and installation is terminated.

"INS5176 caused an Invalid Page Fault at module ZDATAI51.DLL at
017f:1000048717"

Norton provided this bit of omformation:

Error: " _INS5176 has generated an invalid page fault in module
zdatai51.dll" when reinstalling Norton AntiVirus 5.0

Situation:
Your computer included a copy of Norton AntiVirus 5.0 (NAV). When you
attempt to reinstall NAV from the restore CD that was provided with the
computer, you see the error message, "_INS5176 has generated an invalid page
fault in module zdatai51.dll."

Solution:
This has been reported with the Gateway Restore CD, versions 10.1 and 10.4,
which are missing files that are needed to reinstall NAV. Please contact
Gateway for a replacement

Does anyone have a solution to this vexing problem like maybe a later
version System Restoration CD with the correct installation files. Thanks

The original Nav from Gateway is probably outdated and even if you
installed it you would have to pay for an update, that is why the
previous probably install Nav 5.0 a later version. Not much help to
but, I have found, if I have to re-installation any of my norton
programs, I have to uninstall a lot from the registry before it will do
a re-installation. If you choose to clear out your registry, be sure to
make a restore point. I just choose find and the the norton, and then
find next, etc. If you are an end user (personal user) go to the
following site and you can download a free virus scanner and fire wall
program. very good.......but be sure to still clean out your registry.

Try downloading symclean.exe from Symantec - it should completely remove
Norton from the system so you can try a reinstallation.
