|
|
Hi all;
At my new job I kind of inherited this PDC that has a celeron
installed (1.4ghz, 100MHz external bus) and it runs nt 4.0 sp6a.
I am wanting to upgrade to server 2000 this summer but would rather it
be a pentium system than a celeron.
Does anyone know which pentium will fit the same slot that a 1.4ghz
celeron will? Am I at risk of my motherboard not even accepting a
pentium?
By the way, this is a Gateway 910 Series server.
thanks in advance!

AFAIK, the 1.4GHz Celeron is the fastest Socket 370 CPU. Maybe there is a
comparable Pentium 3, or something close to 1.4... Ben Myers

The Celeron 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 processors are all just Pentium III's that run
at 100Mhz bus, 256k L2 cache and all. The only difference you would get from
going to an actual Pentium III is the 133Mhz bus.

Well, there are some with 512k L2, but they're not reasonably priced ($200+). |

Nor are they very common.
