My 700x with WinXP Pro apparently has some damaged files in
IE and OE. It doesn't fully display images, java, or flash. I've
reinstalled Java runtime, but it didn't help. I've changed just about
every IE Internet Options Security and Advanced setting. Also,
OE doesn't fully display all html messages, and it stops sending/
receiving messages when IE accesses a page that it cannot fully
display...requiring a reboot to get it working again. Netscape 4.8
is my browser of choice, so I'm getting by. SP1 was installed last
fall and my entire system has been working perfectly until now.

I even did a Restore to 3 weeks ago, long before the problem
started, but IE still doesn't work right.

One option is to repair IE, so I ordered the WinXP SP1 CD from
Microsoft and then clicked on Install "ie.inf" file. It looked for .dll
files, none of which could be located on the CD or my hard drive.

Add/Remove Programs doesn't show IE. (I understand that on
some versions there is a Repair option).

I'm contemplating reinstalling IE and OE (after tweaking registry
to allow installing the same version).

But before that, I'm wondering if there is another way to do an IE
repair on my system. I'd like to give that a try first.

Last resort would be a re-format, but then 2 years of tweaking the
system go down the drain.

Thanks!
Scott
