|

Hi all,
I was just going along fine today, then, next thing I know, I no longer have
the ability to load web pages. As far as I know, I changed nothing except
for using live update on my norton antivirus.
I can send/receive email, read usenet, but no web browsing. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!
scott
ps. please respond here as my hotmail account is unaccessible right now, and
that's the one I use for usenet stuff. |

What operating system are you running?
What type of connection do you use - cable, dsl, dialup?
What do you use for browsing the web?
Do you get "page cannot be displayed" messages?
If it is XP or ME, you could try system restore.
For XP, you can reset tcp/ip and that often fixes things.
Win98 could use scanreg/restore.
Win98 may also need to have the winsock2 key deleted.
So, depending on your scenario, there should definitely be some fixes
available. We just need to know what you are working with.
Let us know...

Just a quick note to say thanks to all - I found the culprit - a proxy server
had been set up in my dial-up connection by "trial" software I had installed
a month or so ago. The trial expired yesterday but I didn't realize what it
had done.
Disabled the proxy and all is well again.
Thanks again,
scott
