Microsoft unwraps 'Longhorn'
Next version of Windows operating system promises greater security and fewer
crashes.

In the shorter term, Gates said Microsoft would have a beta version for the
second service pack of its Windows XP operating system this year and a beta
for the first service pack of the Windows Server 2003 system in the first
half of 2004. |

Longhorn, the successor to Windows XP probably won't be available
until 2006, so there is still time for the masses to learn XP. This is
quite a contrast to Apple Computer, which releases a new operating system
every 6 months, at $130.

And just about time for MS to have worked all the bugs out of XP so we
can start all over again.....

It'll probably have advanced security features like fingerprint and eye
scanning for positive identification which interfaces to the FBI web-site.
Credit card number support that'll deposit $1 in Microsoft's account for
each day of use. And a new XXXTC interface for advanced human-like
peripherals that support the largest business on the web. (and we all know
what that is!) |
