Can some give me step by step on how to FDISK and partication and Format
hard drive?

I have a Thinkpad 240 300mgz with 6.g HD

NO cdrom . I do have a pcima CD-ROM and also a USB CD Rom.
How can i go about installing WIN 98
do i have to install ms dos and then win 3.1 diskets and then win 98
cause i can't get any of the cdrom to work. plus having trouble
formating HD . It keeps terminating half way. after fdisk

Go here and do some reading.

About 90 % down the page is a link to installing win 98. YOu should be able
to download a boot disk that will allow you to fdisk and format the hard
drive.

YOu do not have to install other versions of windows or dos first. If you
have an upgrade version of windows, the program will ask you to insert a
couple of windows disks just so it can check to see that you do have the
origional disks.

IBM machines are a little different from normal PCs. They have some sort
of hardware which (I think) is intended to keep the casual user from
destroying his disk using utilities such as FDISK and FORMAT. I suggest
you call up the IBM support center. It was always very good when I called.
