Ive just bought the Gateway EV910 monitor and its been nothing but trouble since I got it....

Ive just plugged it into my PC (details of PC are at the bottom) and unless I use the 800x600 resolution, the picture looks out of focus (as if someone has smeared grease onto the screen) and is dim even on the highest contrast and brightness settings. I tried one of its higher resolutions and it was a pure disaster, the picture was too smudged to pick out anything.

If this monitor is shot please let me know, I accept that this monitor is about 6 years old and im not expecting good news from this.....

My PC specs are...

Windows XP Home (Service Pack 2)
768 MB DDR 266 RAM
80 GB HD
Sapphire Radeon 9600
Soundblaster Audigy
ASROCK Motherboard

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think that the monitor is defective, in part due to its age, in part due to
the fact that the Gateway EV series monitors are not well regarded for
quality... Ben Myers
