Can anyone tell me where to find a Bios Flash (file) for this
motherboard? A power surge has corrupted the bios
and I need to reflash it.

I wish I did. I see that FIC has the AM37 and AM37S listed on their
website and FTP site, but nothing for the AM37L. Have you tried asking
eMachines tech support?

If there is anyone out here with an AM37L (various models of eMachines),
I suppose they could take their existing BIOS and save it to a floppy.
So if there is anyone out there with one of these boards......

Yes - They sent me to FIC. And FIC has an announcement on their Bios
page that says something like: "We do not support OEM boards" - which
in this case refers to the AM37L model.

That would be great - Does anyone have an Emachines Model S1940?
And if so, could you run the flash program to save the Bios File for
me? TIA . . .

I had a look at emachines tech support and they do offer the S1940 BIOS,

but at a price :
http://www.esupport.com/global/model.cfm?model=6249

Clicking the green BIOS Update button takes us to the page where they
casually mention that it costs $29.95!

Robbery!

This is most certainly a viable option if the free one cannot be
located. Replacement boards are going for about $90 on ebay - which is
also a bit steep although I could resell it after extracting the Bios.
I contacted one of the sellers about my dilemna. She directed me to
the following site which looks like the best yet:
http://www.emachineupgraders.info/

I'll let you all know the outcome when I get back to the office
tomorrow and initiate the flash process.

Well - the flash that I download from the link (below) did not work,
so I'm guessing I will try the next alternative of $29.95 . . .

That looks like a really well maintained unofficial site, and bursting

with stuff.
Bookmarked! (In the unlikely event of me encountering one of these
machines.)

Nope - It gives drivers only; No Bios Flash files.

It will boot up to CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR one time only without shorting
the CMOS jumper. If you try to boot up a 2nd time, the monitor led
stays orange (instead of turning green) and the computer will not boot
at all.

and you changed the battery hopefully. I realize that error does not

directly point to the battery, but I would try that first.

Measured voltage shows 3.06, so figured it was ok.

Try removing and reseating the memory modules. If this doesn't help, go into
the BIOS setup and make sure that "System BIOS Shadowing" and "System
BIOS Cacheable" are disabled. Be sure to save the change when exiting.
