|
|
Working on friends computer to add 120gb Maxtor hard drive. Current BIOS was using R2.0(1998). I download R2.59 from AOpen web site and ran the BIOS Upgrade. I rebooted and went into BIOS and selected load default which I think instructions told me to. System REbooted and went into WinXP Home Edition one time and hung. Following Reboot booted partially displaying BIOS info on screen and then hung. Rebooted again and now getting blank screen and I can't recover. I can't get it to boot from floppy CD nothing. I am not sure how to get this to boot so I can just get into the BIOS. Any ideas
Other Info:
Award Modular BIOS v4.60PGMA
AX6BC Rev 1.1

Not sure, but perhaps the default now enables ACPI power management
features, and if WinXP was installed without, it may have trouble
starting. See if there is an ACPI choice of some type in BIOS, and turn
it off it it is on, or turn it on if it is off.

Whoops, never mind that, I didn't read your post very well.
You should try the Clear CMOS jumper. If it works, you'll have to reset
the time (and perhaps other settings) in BIOS.

FYI... CMOS jumper didn't work... that was also what AOpen tech support told me to try. I think the only way to salvage is to use EPROM writer but not sure if I want to go that far with this thing. The BIOS is definitely scr**ed up. I can't get the PC to respond at all. _________________ JLM |
