I recently bought a second hand barebones Shuttle PC. After entering
the bios and changing the boot option to CD first, I installed XP. What
I have found happens now though, is that the PC won't boot up unless
the Windows CD is still in the CD drive. Even changing the boot option
to C drive first makes no difference. If I leave the the CD drive as
the 1st boot option but leave the CD out of the drive again, it won't
boot but leaves a message that the system disk is missing or corrupt.
The PC runs XP fine but I have to have the CD in at boot up. Anyone got
any suggestions how I correct this? |

What model of XPC do you have?
Have you checked to make sure you have the latest BIOS?

I have a different Shuttle system, but try this: from the setup menu,
select Advanced BIOS Features, then Hard Disk Boot Priority, and make
sure your boot drive is at the top of the list. If not, use the + key
to move it up. |

I worked out the problem, the jumper on the hdd was set to master, I
removed this so it relied on cable select and it booted no problems
after that.
Thanks for the replies. |
